Become a meber of the American Legion Post 13
Membership Eligibility in the American is based on honorable service with the U.S. Armed Forces bettween:
Eligible Period I (April 6, 1917 - November 11, 1918)
Eligible Period II (December 7, 1941 - Present)
Multi Year Membership info
Because eligiblilty dates remain open, all members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to join The American Legion at this time, until the date of the end of the hostilities as determined by the government of the United States.
Must have served at least on day of active military duty during one of the dates above and honorably discharged or still serving honorably.
To join Post 13 bring in or mail dues and documentation directly to post
Annual Dues are $32.00
Must provide DD-214 and fill out an application
To transfer to Post 13 provide a copy of your DD-214 and your current membership card
If you do not have your DD-214 you can use the FORM (SF-180) to request a copy of it

Become A member of Sons of the American Legion Squadron 13
Membership requirements
All male descendants, adopted, sons and step sons of members of the American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during the delimiting periods (see above) set forth in article IV, Section I of the national constitution of the American Legion, or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from service, shall be eligible for membership in the sons of the american legion

Become a member of the American Legion Auxillary Unit 13
Membership in the auxillary is limited those who have a direct personal connection (mothers, spouse, daughters, sisters, granddaughters, great-granddaughters and grandmothers) with active duty service (see dates above). This service is through a member of ones own immediate family who served in the Armed Forces. upon establishment of eligibility, they may become a member of the local unit of the auxilary. A member of the local unit is also a member of the department and national organization, just as a citizen of chicago is also a citizen of Illinois, and of the united states. by payment of dues in the local unit, a member also contributes to the support of the department and the national organization.
There are two classes of membership:
Senior: Adult over the age of 18, provided, however, that a wife under the age of 18 is eligible under Article 3 Section 1 of the American Legion Constitution shall be classed as a senior
Juniors; Children up to age 18
